POTENTIAL EVOLUTION OF VOD DELAYED

YouView is mightily being hailed as the next big thing when it comes to the platform of Video On Demand services. But then the joint venture that is collaboration between broadcasting moguls Sky, BBC, ITV and BT among others is going to take some time before it is officially launched. This delay again may be for as long as six months indeed.

The service is bound to change a thing or two when it thus comes to the VOD. It will enable one to watch and choose from the various VOD services in turn as offered by individual broadcasters. Among the many issues that the launch of this new service is now seeing include technical concern as well as altercations taking place between the various broadcasters. For once, things may as well be stretched to the next year of 2012 before YouView is finally launched or at the minimum a very late into this year. BT and ITV in the mean while had tremendous faith in YouView and its potential. They are bound to be the most disappointed among others with this unwanted delay. They were eyeing to dethrone BSkyB form the top slot.

Earlier it was Project Kangaroo with which everything had begun. But then that was also brought to an abrupt halt by the Britain’s competition Watchdog back in 2009.
YouView is simply an improved and further evolved version of the current Freeview. Subscribers may simply get access to this platform by buying a new set top box and connecting it to broadband. The features that the platform offers are simply enviable and desirable all the more. This includes the pause and rewind option for even live TV. One may as well view recently aired shows right from BBC, ITV and Channel 4 programmes. Then there is of course the brilliant option of renting online films and choosing from a massive and ever updated library.

Sky Vod Service : Sky Anytime Plus offering Video on Demand service this termed as an upgrade of Sky Anytime. Sky Anytime Plus VOD service implies you to watch your favourite TV shows at convenient time. You canpause, rewind and fast forward programme movies with Sky Anytime Plus VOD Service.

BT head Ian Livingston greatly feels this platform is an answer to allow people to choose from the best line up of films, TV series, other shows and events and view it according to their comfortable timings. In the mean while all this can be done in a much cheaper way when compared with the much expensive Sky.However, the potentially great platform may as well see the light of day sooner than later if a YouView spokesman is to be believed. He recently stated of how they are still looking at launching YouView this summer.

Sky Anytime Plus : Sky Anytime plus is a new video on demand services from Sky. The Sky Anytime plus service offers TV programmes includes 500 movies, Series and Documentaries on demand at no extra cost.
