NEW VIDEO ON DEMAND SERVICE FROM ORANGE SWITZERLAND

VOD seems to be the flavor of the season with every operator providing people with their own Video On Demand services. For once, people seem to prefer the service more as they get to watch a film of their own personal choice rather than simply watch what has been served on the patter. Most of the leading operators are thus coming up with their VOD services which help one enable and have access to a massive line up of movies to be chosen from. This is where now the Swiss telecommunications company Orange doesn’t want to lag behind either.

The company has thus made public their new video on demand (VOD) service that is named Orange CineHome. The service will have the subscribers of Orange having access to as many as 1,500 plus films, TV series and even an assortment of adult films. None the less one would also have to go for the broadband line that the company offers in order to have access to the VOD service as the videos are streamed from online. One may thus have to get access to the least of 2 Mbit/s –internet line from the provider. A current orange subscriber pays as much as CHF14 (€11) per month for the new service. This apart people who are subscribing to other telcos and want to opt for the Orange CineHiome will have to shell out as much as CHF19 (€15) per month.

The price to be paid is also inclusive of the rent to be paid for the set-op-box. This set-top-box simply connects the TV with broadband from where on one may have this access to the assortment of films as offered by the VOD service online. Warner TV provides with thirty movies and about hundred and twenty TV series episodes. All these come from the stable of US Studio Warner Bros. Then there are also eighty shows that are updated on a daily basis. These are provided by SRG. In the mean while the catalogue that comprises of the TV Series are updated on a weekly basis and the movies are updated on a monthly basis. Apart from this one may as well opt to order for a title on DVD or Blu-ray disc for CHF6 per title. There are as many as eighteen hundred plus titles to be chosen from. This may be done by post mail. As for the VOD service, per title will cost about CHF3.50 or CHF8.50. This is of course depending on when the subscriber orders for the film posts its release date or for that matter if he orders for a standard definition version or a high definition version.

Sky Anytime Plus : Sky Anytime plus is a new video on demand services from Sky. The Sky Anytime plus service offers TV programmes includes 500 movies, Series and Documentaries on demand at no extra cost.
